the week that was

Life's been insanely busy and disorganized lately,
Occasionally sad and mad due to loved ones being not really A ok,
But I am still thankful we are able to survive ....
With smiles, coffee, cupcakes, K and B,
Free and easy time with friends,
Young and old along the way...

Wow. Does it sound like a poem? :)

By the way... here's what God says today from the Upper Room Devotional:

James 1:2-12 (NRSV)
My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.

If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you. But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind; for the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

Let the believer who is lowly boast in being raised up, and the rich in being brought low, because the rich will disappear like a flower in the field. For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the field; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. It is the same way with the rich; in the midst of a busy life, they will wither away.

Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
- Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Have a peaceful week ahead! Thank you for checking out my blog. I wish I knew you came :)

A Sizzix for kids workshop... next month! Hope to see your little ones in my class :)

I won Iris Uy's birthday giveaway here :)
Spent the whole morning with my boys somewhere out there.
We had ice cream, pancakes, fries.... their favorite, and mine :)
Cleaned up my work area.
Received another confirmation for a private class.
Had coffee and leftover Garrett (we bought jumbo on our valentine date y'know haha).
I didn't work out :( (maybe later).
Thought of someone and something. Sad but God is bigger. Amen.
Then just a moment ago, I made this...

It's for my coming class... for kids! :)

just one of those days

It's not one of the best days of my life... I just feel so down...

But I want to believe its a good day because of these handsome little gentlemen who adore me.  Who loves my company. Who would stop at anything they are doing just to give me a kiss and a hug. Who would still say I love you Mommy even if I pinch their cheeks a hundred times a day.

And ...
  • Miguel doesn't wear diapers anymore. Two days of potty training and he did it! (I remember it also took him 2 days to learn how to wear flip flops!)
  • Kuya knows to ride his bike.
  • We played. We put lots of coins in his coin bank together... played with foam alphabets.
  • Watched Hi-5 with the 2 cuties. With tickle-war and lots of kisses on the side.
  • I worked out for 25 minutes.
  • I prayed.
  • I did my pedicure. Nicely.
  • We have roof over our heads. A nice and clean one.
  • I have a loving and supportive husband. Who told me he loved what I wore yesterday. Plain shirt, jeans and a fitflop. He said it many times before but I still like it every time he does.
  • I had a nice chat with a friend. Was it nice? I think we gossiped a little bit haha well it felt nice.
  • I teach and scrap on days that I choose.
  • And this made me smile today :) I got a blog award here. Thanks so much smdluxe! So sweet of you.... see ya around the blogosphere.
Apparently, it's not really so bad right. God loves me. I am blessed.

By the way,  I made 2 cards for cousin-in-law Jill and my dear friend Tatskie... wish I could find time to make more...

Feels so good to share.  Why do I always forget. Night. Sweet dreams to us....

my funny valentine and some cards...

Have you ever planned on something... or an event... or an occasion and no matter how perfectly you think you have prepared for it, it didn't come out as what you expected? Happened to me. Many times.

Next question. Have you ever NOT planned on something... or an event.. or an occasion but then it happened. And it happened perfectly? It happened to me! Last night! =)

Here's proof...

BB and I didn't plan anything but the day ended with us having to mention it many times... That we had fun. Some small stuff + an ordinary burger date + popcorn (garrett! my latest paborito!) + silly poses in one corner at Suntec using his point and shoot (see! so unplanned we didn't even bring an SLR... just a little creativity and LOTS OF BIG LOVE) = A happy valentines day to both of us...  Thank you BB! that little card trick of yours took my breath away. Literally. Hapit ko nakuyapan sa kulba hahahahaha! But kidding aside, I love the heart love letter. One of your best. Tsup! :) :) :)

Thanks be to God for the big and small blessings. Praying for a very special someone. So close to my heart. May God grant my prayer for this person...  a grace to follow His will no matter what huge the sacrifice maybe, believing that in the end, God will give what's best and what can truly make us all happy.

Speaking of  'happy', here's a couple of happy birthday cards for two of my dearest friends... actually they are like siblings to me... Jing and Eugene here's for you! Happy birthday!!! :)

Did something different this time. No flowers, no ribbons and buttons, no nothing. Just one layer card using stamps. Inspired by Stampin Sisters in Christ #75.

this day, a decade ago...

It was a sad valentines evening for me. All my three sisters had roses from their boyfriends who were also there, while I got none because --- I had no boyfriend at 27! So I made a bargain to God which I cannot share because it's just between me and Him :) hahaha! And it seemed He liked my bargain because the day after, February 15, I met Benjo for the first time.

About a  month after ... he visited me in my hometown. An 8-hour bus trip from his place.
He became my boyfriend the day after (lol). And he kept on visiting me every other weekend. Until he got tired.... (of that 8-hour bus trips?)

A few months after he asked me to marry him via SMS. How unromantic! (lol)
A few months after he and my mom-in-law visited our hometown to formalize our wedding plans.
And we got married May 2003 :)

And we lived  happily ever after?

Nope. Because we have challenges everyday just like every couple on earth. Like last night I cried of frustration because our son refused to sleep and I very much wanted to blog. And my younger son kept on waking up because he wanted his blanket and PJ's fixed.  While the Daddy was snoring hahaha. It was so not in a valentine eve mood in the bedroom. I know God understands me when I hate such situations. I just pray. And sometimes walk out. Then go back to bed. And pray some more.

I am blessed. It's not a perfect life nor a perfect marriage. But its good. I love it. I believe its because God is my number one valentine (there, I'm giving you a hint of the bargain). I love you Lord! Happy 10th valentines Day to us!

And to my second valentine, the manifestation of God's love for me in this world, here's for you... I love you BB. Sorry that I was a bitch last night. I hope you like the socks I gave you hehehe... Happy 9th valentines day to us! :)

For this mini, I used Websters pps and trims, Sizzix (keys, heart, circle, tags, envelope and pep squad for the alphas), glimmer mists, paint, ribbons, handmade fabric flower, prima, brads ... and lots and lots of foam dots.

b-day & v-day

A couple of cards using Sizzix hearts dies: first a birthday card for a naturally pretty and lovable friend, Manay Mae...

And a valentines card I'm submitting to Stampin' Sisters and Color Combos...

Is it valentines day tomorrow? :):):)

Happy Birthday Benjo Rulona!

He just turned 36! So it means that for the next six months, we are both 36. Comes August, because I'll be 37, he will call me "Ate" which means, elder sister. He really likes it that I'm older than him. What the? :)

We had no plans whatsoever for his birthday, except that I wanted to make him happy. I gave him 3 new shirts which he very much liked (he wore one to the office, and changed to another one when he got home... The one he's wearing in the photo below). Look at the smile. Ain't he happy?

We are happy too :) thankful to God for a number of continuous blessings He poured on us lately. Thank you Lord! Please make us more deserving of your love.... Give us the grace to be more faithful to You.

I also made this special chiffon cake... The original plan was just white icing and I'll write something on it but found out I had no coloring. What to do? Search the fridge! Thanks for my kiddos' oreo cookies and gummies! To the rescue! So I call this cake trying-hard-black-forest-oreo-orange-chiffon cake hahaha!

So glad that our neighbors Noy and Cathy dropped by! Since it was an unplanned bonding, they brought their dinner, thus the plenty food! (Thank you Mare and Pare!) ... Add to that, 4 young friends JJ, Cyprian, Jolene, Thecla from NC Way community came by to do their preparation too... It was like we really had an instant party!

Is a special day complete without some scrappy goodness? Here's a 6x6 layout I made: a certification actually, valid for one day ...

Pasting here my FB greetings: God loves me, kuya and migs.... Because He created you to be my GG and their Daddy =) I honor Mommy and Daddy for raising you to be such a fine gentleman, yet humble, loving and faithful husband and a dedicated Dad (uuuy ngisiii hehehe) Happy Birthday Baby! I love you! =)

sweets :)

PMS isn't that bad when you get these sweet treats unexpectedly :)

Thank you Made With Love! :)

Today is a lovely day.
Today is Kuya's first day in his new school. A very nice school and he loves it. A real blessing!
Today Migs made me laugh so many times =)
Today life is simple... peaceful... uncomplicated...
Today I made this...

A special gift for someone I love!

new home

It's not our home yet, we are still renting. But hubby and I are hopeful that in time, He will provide us :) I will let you know if that happens! Meanwhile, I'm loving our new place....
Especially this...

... makes me so inspired to create... but the whole house (and a gallon of Dettol) is calling my name. So fixing my 'haven' in between unpacking and cleaning and sorting is such a treat :)

I have got lots of plans for this room ... but I always remind myself, it must be God's plan, not mine. Because lately, He has been extremely generous to me and my family. And I believe it's because we said yes to His plans.  Eventhough at first it felt like it was not what we wanted, but in the end He surprised us with blessings, things and happenings beyond our hopes... He is the potter, we are the clay.

Happy to share with you the very first project I made in my new room (I mean, our room. Coz I share this room with my boys, it's their playroom too, lol) It's a birthday card for our little sister, Juris.

Happy Birthday Juris! We love you! :)
